TEŠ could be closed in 2026 or 2027

LJUBLJANA - PM Robert Golob has recently said that TEŠ, a loss-making coal-fired power plant, could be closed before schedule, in three years rather than by 2033 as planned in a coal phase-out national strategy. TEŠ is expected to keep making losses, so its parent HSE is working on analyses that will serve as a basis to decide on HSE's thermal division's future. The analyses should be ready in the second half of the year. TEŠ's only fully-functioning units 6 was launched in 2014 with a lifespan of 40 years. As emission coupon prices are rising and the EU is amid green transition, electricity generated with coal is no longer economically and environmentally viable.

Slovenia's average income per capita up in 2022

LJUBLJANA - The average annual gross and net incomes per capita in Slovenia increased to EUR 15,990 and EUR 12,343, respectively, in 2022, up 9% and 10.2% compared to 2021. In nominal terms, the gross and net increases were the highest after 2015, while in real terms, the increases were a mere 0.2% and 1.2%, respectively. The average net income per capita rose in all 12 statistical regions, being higher then the national average in three - Central Slovenia, Gorenjska, and Southeastern Slovenia. The average net income per capita was the highest in the municipality of Kranjska Gora, northwest, where it reached EUR 15,171, exceeding the national average by 23%.

Celje become national football champions

CELJE - Celje won the national premiere football league after they emerged champions once before, in the 2019/2020 season.
