Couch Festival bringing concerts, events to unconventional venues
Ljubljana, 30 January - A festival turning homes, offices and other public and private spaces into event venues kicks off today. Until 5 February, some 190 concerts and artistic performances will be held in towns and villages across Slovenia as well as in Italy's Trieste. More than 125 groups from 25 countries will perform.

Concerts, performances and puppet shows will be held as part of the Couch Festival in spaces whose location is revealed to visitors only after they have booked the ticket, which is free of charge. But visitors are encouraged to give a voluntary contribution and also bring some snacks to make the event more enjoyable.
Among the more unusual festival venues is also a bus, revealed the organisers - the Koper International Center for Puppetry Arts, the Matita cultural association and the Floating Castle association.
A number of events will be held every evening in public venues such as the Metelkova art centre in Ljubljana, the Kino Šiška urban culture centre and several bars. Every day, up to 30 events will be held simultaneously at the secret locations.
New to the festival's programme this year will be the Halo Muska section as part of which an old converted fire truck will be available for short events around Ljubljana every day between 11am and 2pm.
This year concerts will be broadcast live from the Ljubljana bookshop Sanje every day at noon by Radio Žica.
The festival will be rounded off on 5 February with an event at Snežnik Castle, the venue of the summer festival Floating Castle.
