"Fewer shipments, more receipts": A month and a half after the introduction in the EU of VAT on all third-country goods, it is estimated Slovenia will get an extra EUR 9.4 million in VAT receipts this year. (front page, 4)
EU inflation
"Record price growth in Germany": Eurozone inflation was at 2.2% in July, but in Germany the inflation rate hit 3.1%, the highest since 2008. (front page, 10)
Construction industry
"Slovenian construction the best in the EU": Slovenia's construction industry recorded a monthly growth rate of 4.8% in July, the highest among all EU member states. (front page, 10)
Afghanistan crisis
"Europe in anticipation of refugees": The prospect of a surge in migrations after the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban is becoming an increasingly burning issue for the EU, which still does not have a functioning asylum system. (front page, 3)

Coronavirus measures in schools
"Government departing from recovered-tested-vaccinated condition in schools": Just before the beginning of the school year there has been a change of track: instead of requiring teachers prove they have either recovered or been tested or vaccinated, the Health Ministry proposes that teachers and secondary school students self-test instead. Tourism in Maribor
"One day is enough": Most tourists stay in Maribor for just one day on route to other destinations, but tourism has picked up as the city registered 50% more stays in June than in the same month in 2020. (front page, 10, 11)
