Tourism
"Tourism recovering, forecasts promising as well": Preliminary data for tourism in the country after the first half of the summer season suggest this year's results will be better than last year's and in some areas even close to pre-Covid times if no new restrictions are introduced. (front page, 5)

Postal operator
"SDS wants looser standards": The biggest coalition party, the Democrats (SDS), wants to change the rules for appointing CEOs at state-owned companies to be able to appoint 33-year-old Tomaž Kokot head of postal operator Pošta Slovenije. (front page, 2)

Tokyo Olympics
"They have already won hearts, today they play for history": The Slovenian basketball team has won the hearts of sports fans on their way to the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics. Today they will try to achieve a historic feat. (front page, 18)

Traffic
"Nobody misses elephant races": The decision to ban overtaking for lorries on the A1 motorway between Šentilj and Koper as of 15 January has turned out to be a good one. The measure has improved traffic flows and safety, and made travel less stressful. (front page, 5)

Corruption
"Increasingly many people notice corruption": The pandemic year has created more opportunities for corruption. A survey by NGO Transparency International has shown that people around Europe, including in Slovenia, are increasingly disappointed by corruption. (front page, 2)

Employment
"Which professions are wanted the most": A total of 70,655 people were registered as unemployed in Slovenia in July, a decline of 0.6% from June and down as much as 21% from July 2020, according to a report released by the Employment Service. (front page, 4-5)

Gaming
"End of protectionism and fewer restrictions in gaming": The Finance Ministry has drawn up a bill on gaming that would introduce a dozen of changes into the industry. (front page, 6)

EU cohesion funds
"How much money will we get and when can we expect new tenders": As Slovenia anticipates the first payments from the EU recovery and resilience mechanism, documents are also being drawn up for drawing money from the 2021-2027 financial framework. (front page, 2-3)
