DELO

Second unit of Krško nuclear power station
"More than half of Slovenians in favour of referendum": About 51.4% of respondents in a poll that Mediana conducted for Delo think there should be a referendum on a second unit of Krško nuclear power station, about two-fifths think this is not necessary. (front page, 2)

Krka results
"Krka generates record profit": Pharma group Krka generated almost EUR 91 million in net profit in the second quarter of the year, which is the best achievement in the history of the company. Sales revenue in the first half of the year exceeded last year's. (front page, 9)

Covid-19
"Soft approach may not do": The biggest obstacle to overcoming Covid-19 in Europe is no longer insufficient supplies of vaccines but deeply rooted prejudices against them. Countries can fight vaccination scepticism in different ways, with the final option being obligatory vaccination. (front page, 6)

Care homes
"Windows will not be opened as frequently as last year": New Covid-19 health recommendations eliminate some of the weaknesses that have made care homes difficult to resist infections so far. They are also looser in some ways, for example when it comes to airing rooms. (front page, 2)

Waste management in Ljubljana
"ML Surovine deleted from the registry of waste collectors": The local community in the Zalog borough in Ljubljana continues to be upset by the waste stored by the company ML Surovine, which has now lost its permit for collecting waste. (front page, 8)

Vaccination
"Mobile vaccination: Vaccination van from Kočevski Rog to Brezje": In the Kočevje area, a mobile vaccination unit will visit more than 55 villages and towns until Saturday. On 15 August the unit will organise vaccination at a pilgrimage in Brezje as well. (front page, 7)

"Five shortlisted for the 25th Večernica": Five authors have been shortlisted for the 25th Večernica award for the best youth and children's book: Borut Gombač, Barbara Gregorič Gorenc, Sebastijan Pregelj, Simona Semenič and Damijan Šinigoj. (front page, 17)

Politics
"Have politicians kidnapped the pride of Slovenianhood?": Not even Slovenia's highest peak, Mt Triglav, is safe from political conflicts. The last politician to visit it was Tanja Fajon, who thus upset her political opponents. (front page, 2-3)

Gender equality
"Gap between theory and practice": The paper looks at the efforts of the University of Maribor for gender equality and the actual situation in there in this field. (front page, 8-9)
