Tokyo Olympics
"French bad luck outweighed by Tokyo gold": Primož Roglič, the cycling star who had to quit the Tour de France after a fall, proved a class of his own in the time trial in Tokyo to become Slovenia's first cycling Olympic champion. (front page, page 17)

Covid-19 vaccination
"Minister appealing for vaccination": Projections received by Health Minister Janez Poklukar yesterday show that given the current vaccination rate, Covid-19 hospitalisations could rise to 176 by mid-September, 1,287 by mid-October and to 1,686 by mid-November, including 432 ICU patients, which would become unmanageable. (front page, page 3)

Welcome home party for Olympic medallists
"The first two medals at home already, more yet arriving": Ljubljana airport is turning into a major sports venue in the country as Olympian medallists are welcomed home. The first to arrive was golden canoeist Benjamin Savšek, followed by the silver judoka Tina Trstenjak. (front page, page 5)

UNESCO listing for Plečnik heritage
"Plečnik on UNESCO list": Slovenia's UNESCO World Heritage sites have expanded from four to five as selected works by architect Jože Plečnik in Ljubljana got listed yesterday. (front page, page 18, commentary 12)

Covid-19 restrictions
"Are measures to be tightened for the vaccinated too?": As some countries are reintroducing restrictions in response to the spread of the Delta variant of coronavirus that are also affecting the vaccinated people, Milan Krek, Slovenia's chief public health officer, says additional safeguards for the vaccinated in Slovenia are not planned, but he does not rule them out. "Who can bring petrol to one euro": The world's largest countries are applying increasingly controversial measures in the fight against shocks caused by high prices of raw materials across sectors, against inflation and against loss of prosperity. (front page, pages 2, 3)

Undeclared work
"Undeclared work in one out of four companies": According to a report on undeclared work, the Financial Administration found violations in 24% of the 9,248 inspections conducted last year. (front page, page 6)

"FURS suspends oversight of own share purchases": The Financial Administration (FURS) has suspended audits of transactions where shareholders, mainly executive staff, sell shares back to the companies they co-own until the Supreme Court rules whether those transactions are in fact hidden profit distribution as interpreted by FURS. Tokyo Olympics
"Best it can be!": Primož Roglič outclassed the field in the time trial yesterday to win Slovenia a second gold medal in Tokyo. (front page, pages 21, 22)

UNESCO listing for Plečnik heritage
