Pogačar finished the final stage on Sunday in the lead group, having already cemented his win in Saturday's time trial.

He also won the white jersey for the best young rider and the polka dot jersey for the top mountain climber.

The 29-year-old ended the race 5 minutes and 20 seconds ahead of Denmark's Jonas Vingegaard and over seven minutes ahead of the Ecuadorean Richard Carapaz, after building up his lead in both mountain stages in the first week of the race.

Two more Slovenians finished. Matej Mohorič won two stages and Luka Mezgec's best stage ranking was 4th.

All three Slovenians also paid tribute to Primož Roglič, who had been among the favourites after finishing as runner-up yesterday but had to end the Tour prematurely after a series of nasty falls.
