Slovenian startup launches all-in-one POS terminal
Ljubljana, 24 March - Lab4Pay, a Slovenian fintech startup, has launched a point-of-sale (POS) terminal that vendors can use for traditional payment methods as well as digital payments such as cryptocurrency.
The Elly POS accepts credit and debit cards as well as Apple Pay, Google Pay, several Slovenian electronic wallets and a number of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ether and Litecoin. More options will be added.
The company expects at least a thousand vendors will deploy the terminals until the end of the year, director and co-founder Miha Culiberg told the press on Wednesday.
Elly POS, which has been developed together with Eligma, a startup, and shopping mall operator BTC, can also double as a fiscal cash register or be used for loyalty programmes.
Danijel Lamperger, director of the Chamber of Trade Crafts and Small Business, said the product was welcome in particular for small businesses, many of which do not even accept credit cards yet, let alone cryptocurrency.
