NGOs urge against giving in to pressure of oil and gas company Ascent

Ljubljana, 22 September - Slovenian NGOs have warned against the country caving in to the pressure of UK-based company Ascent Resources, which has announced a lawsuit against Slovenia over its insistence on an environmental impact assessment for a hydraulic fracturing project. The NGOs highlighted the dangers of the investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) mechanism.
