The bilingual Slovenian-English portal www.tasteslovenia.si showcases Slovenia as a sustainable gastronomic destination with its distinctive, quality authentic culinary offerings.

"Gastronomy is a key product of Slovenian tourism that has won us the attention of global media and the title of the 2021 European Region of Gastronomy," STO director Maja Pak told reporters on Tuesday.

"The portal presents Slovenia's rich gastronomical tradition, creations of Slovenia's best chefs, gastronomy experiences, events, the unique stories of chefs and growers, restaurants and the Green&Safe label," testifying to the high Covid-19-prompted health standards in tourism.

Marko Pavčnik, the chef at Pavus Grad Laško restaurant and a member of JRE (Jeunes Restaurateurs) association, said that in putting up the portal they followed several guides and rankings.

"A portal that combines all that allows the limits of various criteria to come into a balance so that (...) those who work really well and co-shape Slovenia's gastronomic image come to the fore," he said.

The portal will also feature the first Slovenian establishments to win Michelin Guide starts. These will be declared next Tuesday.
