Govt Nominates Cvikl for European Court of Auditors

Ljubljana, 17 November (STA) - The cabinet confirmed on Tuesday the nomination of the government's current general secretary Milan M. Cvikl as a candidate for becoming a member of the European Court of Auditors.

According to Prime Minister Borut Pahor, the candidate meets all the criteria required for the post at the Court.

Cvikl would succeed Vojko A. Antoncic whose six-year term began in May 2004.

A member of the ruling Social Democrats (SD), Cvikl worked at Slovenia's central bank for a number of years. He was with the World Bank between 1992 and 1997 and the state secretary at the Finance Ministry between 1998 and 2000. His next stop was Slovenia's biggest bank, NLB, where he also worked as an assistant to the management. He then served as an MP between 2004 and 2008.
