It is unclear yet what the exact schedule of the visit will be.
The Russian president's visit will take place only days after the two countries signed a deal on the construction of the Slovenian leg of the South Stream gas pipeline.
Slovenian Prime Minister Borut Pahor travelled to Moscow for the signing on Saturday.
Pahor and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin then watched the first leg of the play-off match between Slovenia and Russia in Moscow, where the Slovenian national football team lost 1:2 (0:1).
Slovenia will play the return match tomorrow in Maribor, with hopes still up for the ticket for South Africa.
