Brussels, 24 October (STA) - Hard on the heels of his current visit to Brussels, Prime Minister Miro Cerar is due there again on 11 November for meetings with the new President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, European Parliament President Martin Schulz and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, his press service has confirmed.

Brussels, 24 October (STA) - President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy underlined the importance of political stability in Slovenia after meeting the country's Prime Minister Miro Cerar on Thursday. Rompuy said that Cerar informed him of the political situation in Slovenia and that the PM's goal was to ensure a long period of political stability.

More than 25,000 Sign Up for Ljubljana Marathon

Ljubljana, 24 October (STA) - The 19th Ljubljana marathon, to take place on 25 and 26 October, will again attract a record number of runners. Organisers announced ahead of the event that a total of 26,700 have signed up for the ever more popular event, of which 2,500 for the 42 kilometre race.

Opera on Church Financial Issues Staged in Ljubljana

Ljubljana, 24 October (STA) - An opera with a rather unusual topic will be staged in Ljubljana's Cankarjev dom arts centre on Friday. The piece will focus on the financial collapse of the Maribor Archdiocese and feature a world acclaimed conductor Marko Letonja and soloist Branko Robinšak, a Prešeren Fund Prize laureate.
